 Good Afternoon, WASH Members!

Here's a quick note to let you know where we're at on some of the current WASH activities and events.

MEMBERSHIP:
WASH membership continues to grow and the month of August brought one more new member to the Association.  Welcome aboard, Becki Maloney of Onalaska, Washington!  If any member would like contact info for Becki, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

WASH MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY:
Distribution has begun for the 2010/2011 WASH Membership Directory and is about two-thirds complete.  The majority of the remaining distribution will be face-to-face at trials in September and October to minimize mailing costs.  I will be distributing directories at the following trials:

Rocky Ewe                            September 4,5 and 6                Yelm, WA
Vashon Island Classic          October 1,2 and 3                     Vashon Island, WA
Western States Regional      October 15, 16 and 17              McMinnville, OR
    Fire Ridge                             October 21, 22, 23 and 24       Milton-Freewater, OR

Additionally, if you will be having a Scott Glen lesson or attending his clinic at the end of October, I will be available there.

If you will not be at any of these events but have a friend that will be there, contact me if you want that person to receive your directory and bring it to you.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACTIVITIES:  A
WASH BOD meeting was held August 20, 2010, at the LaCamas Valley SDT.  Minutes of that meeting will be posted on the WASH Web Site no later than September 10, 2010.   Whenever we have a majority of the Board in one location, we try to get together for a face-to-face meeting and another meeting will be held at the Rocky Ewe trial.  Time and specific location will be coordinated and announced at the trial.  Any WASH member is welcome to participate and the BOD welcomes your input.

VOLUNTEERS:
A basic tenet in establishing WASH as an organization, was that it would be a members driven organization.  In order to be such an organization, members need to step forward and take on responsibility for some of the functions of WASH and WASH activities.  One of our members, Jennifer Coleman, has stepped up and volunteered to be the WASH statistician and maintain the WASH Awards Points System.........thank you, Jennifer!!  But, we need more folks to volunteer their efforts.  So if your interested in getting involved, please contact me.............we have plenty of opportunities!!

WASH AWARDS:
Awards for the 2009/2010 WASH Open, Pro-Novice, Ranch and Novice Novice winners will be presented at the Rocky Ewe Sheepdog Trial in Yelm this weekend.  Be sure to congratulate all the winners and give a special thank you to George and Sue MacDonald for donating the awards for first and second place winners in all classes..............thank you George and Sue!!

WASH WEB SITE:
Your web site is getting a make over!  WASH member Ruedie Birenheide has volunteered his time and significant expertise to assist your webmistress (Diane Pagel) in a redo of the site that will be up and running in September.  I'm told that it will not only be more pleasing to the eye of the viewer, it will also be much more user friendly and easier to update.  In addition, a new "How To" page will be added that will list and explain procedures for submitting events, photos, items for the classified section, and so forth.  Look for it in September and thank you Ruedie and Diane!!!
